When someone mentions violets, we tend to think of the sweet, old-fashioned smell of the flowers, perhaps reminiscing about the parma violet chocolates that were popular in the past!
Violet leaf, a current favourite with perfumers, is quite, quite different. It has a green and fresh scent which some people describe as similar to cucumber.
Often used in fougere (fern-like) fragrances, violet leaf is cool and contemporary. It is also used in marine fragrances as its watery quality helps to conjure up memories of seaspray and surf.
